Stars and Shadows…Christmas Lantern Festival in the Gardens

A magical ‘make and explore’ lead up  to Christmas for all the family in the Gardens.

As night falls, wander into the Gardens with your own Willow Star lantern find the Big Star constellations hidden in the trees, run from Jupiter to Mars and make your own planetary shadow play..

There’s hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows around the fire-pit too.

Making a lantern is not compulsory – but its more fun!

Lantern making FREE days

Be part of the big community art installation in the Gardens this year.

Light up Christmas with stars and planets that you have made!

Volunteers from Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens are working with partners across the community, including ‘Arts in the Yard’ in Stechford, Yardley and Hobmoor as well as local schools and families to make a Super Star Studded Lantern Lit Garden event this Christmas.

Opportunities to get involved:

Free Lantern Making days
Friday 16th November, Saturday 17th November
Friday 23rd November and Saturday 24th November

Come along, learn how to make the stars for a couple of hours or all day. Training and guidance given, work on your own or with others, on individual or ‘group’ stars. Entry for makers is free on these days.
Your work will be part of the display in the Gardens until the end of December.

Making the stars is quite easy. It takes a little bit of dexterity. Young children may need a little help from their grown ups. But all age groups are welcome.
A reward for your work will be a discounted entry or free cafe voucher to be used on the Xmas event days.

Group or School Stars

There is a limited opportunity in November for school classes or scout/guide troops to work with artist Sophie Handy to make a special Star display.

Your class can work with Sophie for a day, at school or in the Gardens, to make a whole display for the Gardens – Your groups name will appear on that star in the Gardens.

Contact the Gardens for available dates and costs.
