Seeking Summer Café and Front of House team members – ideal student job.
Join our small team at a busy and friendly cafe at Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens for the summer holidays.
We are looking for reliable, customer focused Front of House Team members to help deliver good experiences for our visitors during our summer
opening period.
The Courtyard Cafe is open six days a week with some later evenings to cover our outdoor music and theatre events.
A regular 15- 30 hours are available, with the possibility to increase during staff holiday and busy periods.
About Us
The Courtyard Café is charming open air space at the entrance to the historic Gardens. From our sheltered cabin café and shop we serve light refreshments, lunches, homemade cakes and drinks throughout the day. The café serves regular local users, Gardens visitors, families on a day out, visiting groups and special events visitors. Some evening café/bar work for events is also available.

You will have demonstrable experience of cafe service, being aware of, and keen to uphold the highest of hygiene standards.
As a Team Member, you will be dealing directly with people. You’ll welcome and look after everyone who comes to the café and to the Gardens. With your love of
working with people, your ‘can-do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service, you’ll be making sure everyone has an enjoyable time. This is a lively café and visitor attraction that’s constantly on the go – teamwork and adaptability are crucial. You will be working with a mix of salaried and volunteer staff.
About you
You will already have good experience of working in a food and café environment. Preferably with recent Level 2 hygiene certificate (Extra training where necessary will be given.)
You will be:
- Offering excellent customer service
- Working on the till with other general front of house duties
- Helping prepare and serve food and drinks to customers
- Willing to fulfil various front of house roles as required
- Available for weekend and weekday shifts. (existing holidays will be honoured)
- A proactive, lively team worker, supporting and being supported by others to deliver an excellent service.
Job Details:
- 18years + and have a ‘right to work’ visa if appropriate
- 15 – 30 hours per week, with regular shifts and potential for extra casual hours
- £12.21 per hour
- Casual dress, neat.
- Discounted or free refreshments during work time
- Reasonable travel costs (by negotiation)
- NB The Gardens are in East Birmingham (Castle Bromwich) accessible by car and bus (94 from Bham town centre). Please ensure you can make the journey before applying.
