Cyanotype Workshop with Jake Lever

Birmingham-based artist Jake Lever brings his expertise as a fine artist to Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens. Join him for a hands-on cyanotype workshop, exploring this beautiful and historic photographic printing process, sometimes known as ‘sun prints’ .
We will be standing on the shoulders of famous Victorian botanists like Anna Atkins to record plant specimens from the Gardens, exposing light sensitive paper to sunlight, creating visually striking, distinctively blue “sun prints”. There be opportunities to learn about the process (including information about materials and equipment), the chance to experiment and create unique prints which you can take away.
Engage with a stunning art form, set within 10 acres of Baroque gardens. This is ideal for anyone with an interest in both botany and art, this is a workshop not to be missed.
No experience is needed and all materials are provided, with a limit of 10 people per workshop and a guarantee of success in all weathers!
2 separate sessions: at 10.30am and 2pm
NB: Your £45 ticket includes complementary tea and coffee and entry all day to the Gardens (whichever session you book for).
We will take lots of photographs so please let us know if you do not want to be in them.
