Beautiful Baroque Gardens hidden amongst urban surroundings

A place to breathe deeply, escape and relax. Orchards, a maze, gentle walks and wild areas. Plenty to help the soul and stretch your limbs.

Sometimes, additional events and activities are included as part of your general visit. Other events are separately ticketed (eg workshops and Open-air theatre and music). Please check our Events page so you don’t miss out.

Food and Drink

The Open Air Courtyard Café is open for light refreshments; including Rourke’s prize winning pies, Homemade cakes, Cream Teas in a Box, pastries, hot and cold drinks and ice creams. Seasonal variations and availabilities apply. Entry to the Courtyard only, is free.

Families, dogs and picnics are welcome.

We always welcome families. The Gardens are a great place to explore for young children. There is usually some kind of self guided trail or activity, like a mud kitchen, to spend time in. As a walled garden we are a relatively safe place to play. Nevertheless ponds, wildlife and the outdoors present hazards. Please make sure you know what your children are doing at all times.

You are welcome to bring your own picnics. There is shelter, tables and plenty of benches around the site.

We welcome dogs on short leads so bring them along to enjoy the Gardens with you too, please keep pick up after them and take your rubbish home with you – thank you. We run a monthly Canine Café, where you and your dog can meet others socially in the Courtyard – make some friends and enjoy tasty treats..

Maze

The holly maze is a delight for garden lovers and casual visitors alike and perfect for young ones to explore.

Play areas

10 acres of nature to explore as well as a kids play area, mud kitchen and nature explorers kits.

Plenty of greens spaces to sit and enjoy a picnic, your welcome to bring your own or purchase some food from the cafe.
