The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan

An open air production of the Story of Gilbert and Sullivan from the Birmingham Savoyards. The ever popular G&S makes a very welcome addition to our events this year.

In Edwardian times our Gardens were full of musical activities… no doubt there were some G&S tunes among them. How lovely to have some echoes of those elegant days.

W S Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan’s collaboration brought us well known comic operettas such as The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance and The Gondoliers, the concert itself will be narrated by actors playing the parts of Messrs Gilbert and Sullivan, using songs from all 14 of their operas to illustrate their highly successful, if often stormy partnership. The selection offers something for everyone – from old familiar favourites to seldom-heard surprises.

The show takes place on the afternoon of  Heritage Open Days on our site. You could spend the morning touring the buildings and Gardens, have lunch and spend a joyful afternoon with G&S.

Theatre tickets on sale above.

Why not buy an all day ticket combining the tours of Church, Hall and Gardens with your afternoon theatre ticket?
