SUMMARY:Blossom Bash -  a blooming spring celebration: free event
DESCRIPTION:This March our Historic Gardens are teaming up with the National Trust to celebrate the start of Spring and the National Trust’s own Festival of Blossom by hosting its first ever Blossom Bash.\nBlossom season starts with blackthorn (sloes!)\, then beautiful pink fluffy cherry blossoms around the city\, before moving on to the generous blossom of pear trees\, then apples.  The highly scented Hawthorn (‘May’) and Elderflower follow later. \nThis Blossom Bash free event is a great way to start the season and brighten the experience for our eyes and nose…all welcome\, just drop in. \nSunday 22 March 2026\, 10:30am to 3:30pm\na day of family filled fun\, fresh air and FREE activities.\nThe National Trust held an family picnic event in the grounds of The Charterhouse in Coventry to celebrate the start of the 2024 Blossom project. Picture by Shaun Fellows / Shine Pix Ltd \nActivities include: \n\nFlower Crown making with Ildiko Nagy\nScavenger Trails around the gardens and orchards\nInteractive storytelling with Pyn Stockman (11.30am and 1.30pm)\nFacepainting with Coloured Cheeks\nBlossom themed crafts\nPhotos with our Blossom Queen.\n\nWe’ll also be showcasing the four winning designs from the National Trust Blossoming Spaces Competition which were submitted by primary and secondary children across East Birmingham. \n\nSpecial Offers\nThe first 150 people to enter the event and share how they heard about the Blossom Bash will receive a token for a free hot or cold drink from the café. \nAdditional free  free travel: NT will be arranging coaches departing from\, and returning to sites within Shard End\, Heartlands\, Bromford & Hodge Hill and Yardley & West Stechford. DESCRIPTION:Learn all about the art of Hapa Zome\, have a ago and take home your creation.\n\n\nHapa Zome is a fun and creative way of connecting art and nature.\nOriginally from Japan\, it involves pounding leaves\, flowers and other natural materials onto fabric and paper to create colourful and beautiful patterns.\nWhat to expect- \n\nYou will be introduced to Hapa Zome with a demonstration from our instructor.\nAfter that it’s time for you to experiment\, explore which materials work better and why\,\nCreate your own Hapa Zome to take home with you.\n\nThis workshop is suitable for children aged 5-13 YO. All children must be accompanied by an adult.\nAll materials supplied and instructions on the day will be relatively simple for you to work and create together\, or individually . \nThe reserved ticket also includes a general Gardens entry. \n  \nThis Workshop is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund

DESCRIPTION:Used to eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday? Now is your chance to race with them! \nWe’re reviving a tradition…’again’. \nOn Tuesday 17th February 2026\, we invite people to race down the Archery Lawn\, frying pan in hand and – with luck – flipping a pancake along the way.\nAll for fun and to warm up those limbs\n\nFollowing other traditional pancake races\, the course will be precisely 415 yards and involve you running with a frying pan and pancake from start line to finish.\n\n2 race categories : 1 for adults  –  1 for children\n\n\n£2 entry for each person competing\n\n\nSmall prizes for winners\, best costumes etc etc\n\n\nPlease bring along a frying pan (real or toy)\n                                         (we’ll supply the pancakes)\n\n\nGardens entry free this day
