All children must be accompanied by an adult.\nAll materials supplied and instructions on the day will be relatively simple for you to work and create together\, or individually . \nThe ticket also includes a general Gardens entry. \n  \nThis Workshop is supported by The National Lottery Awards for All.

DESCRIPTION:Used to eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday? Now is your chance to race with them! \nWe’re reviving a tradition…’again’. \nOn Tuesday 17th February 2026\, we invite people to race down the Archery Lawn\, frying pan in hand and – with luck – flipping a pancake along the way.\nAll for fun and to warm up those limbs\n\nFollowing other traditional pancake races\, the course will be precisely 415 yards and involve you running with a frying pan and pancake from start line to finish.\n\n2 race categories : 1 for adults  –  1 for children\n\n\n£2 entry for each person competing\n\n\nSmall prizes for winners\, best costumes etc etc\n\n\nPlease bring along a frying pan (real or toy)\n                                         (we’ll supply the pancakes)\n\n\nGardens entry free this day

Join us in decorating and making three Nature-themed magnets\, and one frog puppet\, complete with moving arms and legs! \nOlder children welcomed ( ideal ages 5 and 10 ) with their adults. \nEach ticket enables you to make and decorate three magnets and make one frog puppet. \nChild Ticket £10 – includes ONE adult entry\n(Must be accompanied by an adult) \nAll materials supplied and instructions on the day will be relatively simple for you to work and create together\, or individually . \nThe ticket also includes general Gardens entry so go wander and explore our Heritage site. \nWith its Mud Kitchen\, Outoor Play Area and Hidden Wonders Trail there is so much to do! \nAll children must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease note\, we take photographs at our events. If you would not like to be in them\, just let our photographer know when/if they come round. They will introduce themselves.

DESCRIPTION:Wassail in the Orchard: An ancient tradition in the city.\n\n\nA wassail in the gloaming for all\nWe bring the ancient Orchard Wassailing tradition to the city.\nWassail is an ancient rural custom intended to wake up the sleeping spirits of fruit trees and encourage them to get growing in the hope of a good harvest of apples and fruit in the summer \nJoin us for raucous music\, stories\, songs and a torchlit parade to the Orchard\, where we will bless the trees with toast and cider.\nLeading the jollities will be Beorma\, a mixed side of lively Border Morris dancers. Morris as you have never experienced it before ‘dumping tradition on the unwary since 2012.’ \nOur friendly Wild Green Man of the Woods returns to provide more music and stories and will lead you in the traditional songs associated with the ceremony… Feel free to join in the singing and the dancing as you will (bring your own pots\, pans \, whistles -things to make a noise – and join in). \nHot mulled cider will be available for sale. \nPlease note the Gardens will be dark and we will be walking over muddy ground. \nPlease dress accordingly. Children are very welcome with their (ticket holding) adults. \nSimple crafts to create noise making things maybe on offer – weather dependent. \nStories\, Music\, Dancing from 3.30 pm\nProcession starts at 5.30 pm\nPlease note: Last entry 5.15pm. \n  \nAnd why not pre-buy our new Wassail pin badge for 2026?
