Jeff Lynne – a celebration of songs!

August 3rd,6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
£20.00
Music in delightful spaces…global, local.

As promised we’re back with our second Celebration of the Songs of Jeff Lynne.

What a wonderful event our first one was, a perfect summer evening, artists who gave their all and an audience that was seriously up for it.

We’re delighted that Thomas Walsh from Dublin is joining us again to lead the latter part of the evening.

Quick note: When Brian Wilson met Thomas a couple of years ago Brian asked “Are you the guy who wrote ‘It’s Nice to be Nice’? “Yes” stammered Thomas, “Great Song” said Brian as Thomas melted, never to be the same again.

Famous Brummie Roger Spencer the drummer in Idle Race when Jeff was a member will hold it all together again for us in his own unique style, ably assisted by Bonnie Spencer.

Also joining us will be Dave and Mandy Scott-Morgan, Dave played with ELO for a few years and we’re hoping to persuade him to play some of the songs that he wrote and recorded with Jeff’s brilliant arranger Richard Tandy.

That guitarist for all seasons Vo Fletcher will be helping it all along and no doubt there’ll be a few surprises for us all on the night.

The garden gates will open from 6pm

Live music will start at 7pm

If you come early there’s a chance to walk around and admire the work that the small number of dedicated staff and wonderful volunteers do here to keep the historic Gardens magnificent.

We have some chairs but if you’d like to bring your own picnic style chairs or a blanket, that will ensure that there’s plenty.

Our bar will be open for hot and cold drinks and wine and beers, although we’ll have some you’re welcome to bring your own snacks but please don’t bring alcohol as our licence doesn’t allow that.

Don’t stress about the weather, if it happens to be inclement we can all fit under our marquee and if it’s lovely we’ll be just where we were last year.We very much look forward to welcoming you.
