DESCRIPTION:Expert or beginner –  all are welcome to spend and hour or two ‘taking a line for a walk’ and creating drawings in\, and of\, the Gardens.\nHaving ‘adopted’ local naturalist and artist Edith Holden as our guide and inspiration\, we invite all visitors to have a go at capturing a bit of Spring on paper. \nThere will be paper and drawing materials available to use and you are welcome to bring your own.  \nNo pressure\, no judgement…. just observe and enjoy. \nAcross the day\, Edith Holden enthusiast and collector\,  Rachel Smith- Chopra\, will be on hand to share her experiences and knowledge of  Edith Holden’s travels around Birmingham and Solihull. \nindividuals\, families\, groups… all welcome. \nAll materials and activities free with Normal Gardens Entrance Fee. No need to book.

DESCRIPTION:Picnics under the Blossoms – a japanese tradition borrowed for our apple orchards here in Brum.\nIf the blossom gods are kind\, the two heritage apple orchards will be puffy with blossoms and chef Yumi Okamura will be cooking up her delicious specialities especially for our visitors.\nPre booking for food is now open… last orders 12am Tuesday 5th May \nThere will be more food available on the day for picnicking or taking home… but dont risk disappointment. SUMMARY:Blossom Bash -  a blooming spring celebration: free event
DESCRIPTION:This March our Historic Gardens are teaming up with the National Trust to celebrate the start of Spring and the National Trust’s own Festival of Blossom by hosting its first ever Blossom Bash.\nBlossom season starts with blackthorn (sloes!)\, then beautiful pink fluffy cherry blossoms around the city\, before moving on to the generous blossom of pear trees\, then apples.  The highly scented Hawthorn (‘May’) and Elderflower follow later. \nThis Blossom Bash free event is a great way to start the season and brighten the experience for our eyes and nose…all welcome\, just drop in. \nSunday 22 March 2026\, 10:30am to 3:30pm\na day of family filled fun\, fresh air and FREE activities.\nThe National Trust held an family picnic event in the grounds of The Charterhouse in Coventry to celebrate the start of the 2024 Blossom project. Picture by Shaun Fellows / Shine Pix Ltd \nActivities include: \n\nFlower Crown making with Ildiko Nagy\nScavenger Trails around the gardens and orchards\nInteractive storytelling with Pyn Stockman (11.30am and 1.30pm)\nFacepainting with Coloured Cheeks\nBlossom themed crafts\nPhotos with our Blossom Queen.\n\nWe’ll also be showcasing the four winning designs from the National Trust Blossoming Spaces Competition which were submitted by primary and secondary children across East Birmingham. \n\nSpecial Offers\nThe first 150 people to enter the event and share how they heard about the Blossom Bash will receive a token for a free hot or cold drink from the café. \nAdditional free  free travel: NT will be arranging coaches departing from\, and returning to sites within Shard End\, Heartlands\, Bromford & Hodge Hill and Yardley & West Stechford. SUMMARY:Mothers' Day - celebrating Mothers and Mother Nature
DESCRIPTION:Bring your mum to the Gardens on Sunday 15th and celebrate mothers and nurturing nature everywhere.\nEnjoy the daffodils\, cream tea in a box\, paper flower crafts\, or a magical tree tour…. or just a quiet stroll around the wakening Garden \n\nTours (11.30  and 2pm)\nCream Teas in a Box from 11am\nPaperFlower drop in workshop 1- 3pm\n\n  \nCream Tea in a Box\, £7 available from 11am\nHomemade scone\, Cornish cream and jam\, with endless tea… All in a convenient carry box. \nIdeal for picnicking around the Gardens in amongst Nature (or can be taken in a differently civilised way at a table in the Courtyard or Melon Ground)\nA bubbly version also available (£12) \n \nPapercraft Flower Workshop  Drop in between 12 and 2pm.\nDonations welcome ( suggested around £4).  Take away your own handmade crepe and tissue paper blooms. \nDrop in\, together with mum – or take her home a beautiful surprise. \nTour of the Gardens’ special trees (max 15 people per tour. Donations welcome)\n \nOur trees give us shelter\, nurture life and inspire us with their beauty and wonder. \n  \nJoin Bethan Collerton for an informative and fascinating tour – 11:30  & 2pm. \nBethan is not only the Chair of our Trust\, but also Head Gardener at Birmingham Botanical Gardens AND a regular member of the Gardeners Question Time (GQT) panel on BBC Radio4 \nNo need to book\,but please be aware cream teas\, places in workshop and on tours will be available across the day until supplies run out.\nNB Normal Garden Entry Fees Apply\nMembers free\, adults £6.60\, Concession £5.50 (with voluntary donations)
